Continue reading]]> My 12 year old and I got to go to Disney World in April of 2014 and we had the most wonderful time! We stayed on-resort at the All Star Sports hotel so that we wouldn’t have to drive and we could use the Disney transportation system (which I really liked for the most part). A review will be coming soon, so check back later!

One thing we really wanted to do was see the real Anna and Elsa at Disney World at their meet and greet location at Epcot. The lines were anywhere from 4-6 hours to see them. It was blistering hot and humid and neither of us wanted to wait in a line that long, so we decided to try to “beat the system” if we could. We came back another day and decided to be the first ones in line to enter Epcot on a low-peak day. We took a taxi ($15) and got to the Epcot entrance 90 minutes before opening time. We were able to sit down for most of that, and they let us in 10 minutes before the official opening.

Then, the marathon began! Everyone in line sprinted to Anna and Elsa which were way on the far end of the park. My daughter went ahead of me and got in line. She was about #10 in line from the runners and there were already people in line from the princess breakfast in Norway (people would book the early-morning breakfast, and then pay the cancellation fee to not show up, and get in line early to meet Anna & Elsa). We only had to wait 45 minutes to see them and every 10 minutes that went by, the line got an hour longer, until peaking at about 4 hours. By the time we had seen them, the line was over 4 hours and later in the day it was 6 hours.

Currently Anna and Elsa have moved to Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom at Disney World. They have fastpasses but they are GONE on-line for the whole month within minutes of them being available.

Here’s a video of us seeing our beloved princesses!

Top 5 Things to do with Princesses at Disneyland https://www.positivelymommy.com/2012/11/top-10-things-to-do-with-princesses-at-disneyland/ https://www.positivelymommy.com/2012/11/top-10-things-to-do-with-princesses-at-disneyland/#comments Sun, 18 Nov 2012 18:21:15 +0000 http://www.positivelymommy.com/?p=1452

Continue reading]]> Our family has gone to Disneyland many many times since we’ve had our children. We love the happy feeling there and think it’s the perfect family vacation and we go there often. In the last 18 months we have gone 4 times! We just got back from going at Halloween time and had lots of fun. It was hard to leave!

I get asked all the time by my friends, “Tell me what can my girls do with the Princesses at Disneyland?” Here’s my favorites:

1. Visit the Princess Fantasy Faire (free)

There are 3 princesses at the Princess Fantasy Faire. You get what you get. There is no schedule posted. We’ve been happy every time we’ve gone to this. The princesses will talk to your little girl for a few minutes, sign her autograph book, take a picture, and give her a hug. I think it’s worth the 30+ minute wait time. The last time we went to Disneyland, we got Belle, Ariel (in her dress, not her fins), and Tiana. Also to the side (in a separate line) was princess Merida from the movie Brave. There is also a dance the princesses do also called “Princess Fantasy Faire” but it is closed until 2013. It is very well done and worth it to attend.

2. Ariel’s Grotto (cost $40 for adults, $34 for children)

We have done character dining a couple times. It’s pricey, but I think it’s worth it. The food at Ariel’s Grotto is incredible and they cater to people with food allergies (which is important to us). This is a 4 course meal in a lovely atmosphere. You will meet all of the main Disney Princesses including Cinderella, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, and Snow White. They will come to your table and talk to you for as long as you want them to stay. I think it’s worth the price and an experience you will never forget. It’s also nice if you want to skip the 30+ minute line for the princesses mentioned above. Here’s a video quick tour of the meal with the princesses.

3. Visit Rapunzel’s House
While the line to visit with the real Rapunzel is always ridiculously long, I think it’s worth it to see her and her house once. Rapunzel is consistently little girl’s favorite princess. If you ask the attendant at her house before you get in line what time Flynn Ryder will appear, you can try to plan it to get in line at the right time to see them both. I found Rapunzel’s house to be quite stunning and I loved seeing her hair and talking with her.
#4 Visit Pixie Hollow (with Tinkerbell)
If your little girl really likes Tinkerbell, then by all means take her to Pixie Hollow. It’s really fun to look around there as it’s a bigger location than where the other princesses are. You will see Tinkerbell and then 2 of her friends. We saw SIlvermist and one other I can’t remember. You can expect to wait at least 40 minutes for this attraction. Like I said, if your little girl is really into Tinkerbell, by all means go. If not, maybe skip it.
5. Go on the “princess rides”
The rides aren’t as interactive as the attractions I mentioned above, but they are still really fun. There is a Snow White ride (it’s ok), you can tour Sleeping Beauty’s Castle (it’s ok), you can visit the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique and get your hair done like a real princess (pricey $80+), but my favorite princess ride is the new Ariel ride called, “Ariel’s Undersea Adventure”.

Lil Imaginators Cast Members

About a year ago, some friends and I started on a project that explores children’s imaginations. It’s called Lil Imaginators. We asked about 10 young children from different families and backgrounds to come and be on film at our local college campus. They had so much fun and so did we!

We wanted to gain access into children’s imaginary world by asking them simple questions about princesses and superheroes and seeing what their answers would be. We were floored by how imaginative and funny their responses were to our questions.

In this episode (episode 1), we ask the kids, “What do princesses eat?” Watch the video and see what their hilarious responses are.

Episode 2 will be launched in August of 2012.

If you are interested in any of the princess costumes in the video, we have links to them below. The brand is Little Adventures and they come in a variety of sizes and are non-itch and machine washable. Some of these kids wore them for 6 hours during the video shoot and none of them complained about being uncomfortable in the princess dresses or boys capes. Our family actually owns all of these costumes and we’ve had some for over 10 years and our kids pretend in them on a daily basis. They are fantastic!
